Engineer – Electroplating

MWOE Solar, Inc., a technology spin-off from the University of Toledo, engages in the development, manufacture,

and marketing of photovoltaic modules that convert sunlight into electricity. The company develops thin-film silicon

based photovoltaic products and manufacturing equipment for high-throughput production of flexible and lightweight

photovoltaic modules at low cost. The company was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Toledo, Ohio.

 

Job Description

The primary job responsibility is performing design, set up, operation and maintenance of MWOE’s unique electroplating processes.

The applicant will be expected to implement and optimize plating methods in collaboration with MWOE R&D and engineering staff,

and document results from the plating process. The candidate will also be expected to perform other related duties as assigned

and to maintain the work area and equipment in a neat, safe and orderly condition. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with

electroplating industry experience, including new process startup. Electrical and mechanical skills will be a strong plus. Ability to work

effectively in a team environment is essential.

 

Job Responsibilities:

n           Designing and running pilot-scale plating facilities.

n           Scaling up laboratory-developed processes to the pilot scale.

n           Formulation of new electroplating recipes.

n           Create and maintain documentation related to new and existing plating equipment and processes

n           Be willing to perform occasional machining and electrical jobs with hand and power tools as required to support the electroplating process

 

Job Status: Full Time

 

Job Requirements

n           Background in electrochemistry or electroplating preferred

n           Willingness and ability to work with industrial chemicals

n           Ability to utilize Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) and CAD software

n           Prior electroplating experience required (3 years minimum)

n           Experience in waste disposal and treatment a plus

n           Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related Engineering/Technology, or equivalent. Applicants without formal training

in these areas may also apply and will, in general, be considered for a technician position.
